How to order

You can place orders for metal detectors, accessories and publications either online or by phone or fax. Please scroll down for further details.

Secure On-line Ordering

Ordering your detector from Joan Allen Detectors Direct using a credit or charge card couldn't be easier or safer. Just follow these simple steps ...

Find the detector you would like by clicking on the manufacturers' logos above.
Click on the 'Buy Now' button next to the detector and wait for the shopping basket to load automatically.
To continue shopping click on the 'Continue Shopping' button within the shopping basket. You may be interested in looking at our range of books and detecting accessories
When you have finished shopping go to your shopping basket by clicking on the View Basket button near the top right hand corner of each page.
Click on the 'Click to Check Out' button to connect to our secure server. At this point you may receive a pop-up browser message telling you that you are being connected to a secure server.
When the check out form appears you should complete each section and then click on the 'Confirm My Order' button at the bottom of the page.
Wait for a confirmation page to appear showing your order number. Make a note of the order number and then click the Continue button to disconnect from our secure server.
You will then receive an email confirming your order and showing details of the various items you have ordered.

Other Ways of Ordering

Of course, orders can also be placed using more conventional methods. If you would prefer to order by telephone please call our sales hotline on 01959 571255 (international code +44 1959 571255). Orders can also be sent by fax to 01959 576014 (international code +44 1959 576014). Remember to include full contact details including your e-mail address.

Bank transfer - overseas customers may prefer to transfer payment directly to our bank account. Please email sales@joanallen.co.uk for our bank account details. Once you have made the transfer please then email us with your name, postal address, details of detector(s) ordered, and stating that you have made a bank transfer. Your goods will be despatched as soon as our bank receives the transfer.

Dispatch of Goods

Goods ordered will normally be dispatched as soon as your order has been received and processed. In the unlikely event of a product being out of stock, you will be contacted by email, telephone, letter or fax advising you of the likely delay.

Delivery Charges & Times

United Kingdom (excluding C.I.): Metal detectors costing £170 or above are sent free of charge by insured next working day delivery within the UK (not Channel Islands). There is a standard delivery charge of £6 for detectors under £170

Channel Islands: There is a standard charge of £15 for insured express delivery to Southern Ireland. Delivery usually takes 5-7 days from date of order.

South Ireland: There is a standard charge of £20 for insured express delivery to Southern Ireland. Delivery usually takes 5-7 days from date of order.

European Union: There is a standard charge of £25 for insured express delivery within the EU (apart from the UK of course). Delivery usually takes 5-7 days from date of order.

Rest of World: There is a standard charge of £40. All detectors are sent by insured delivery. Delivery usually takes 7-14 days from date of order.

Value Added Tax (VAT)

All prices quoted within the main product pages of Detectors Direct are inclusive of VAT at 17.5%. VAT must be paid by all UK and European Union customers. VAT will be deducted for non-EU customers. VAT-Registered companies within the EU requiring exemption should contact us by telephone or fax supplying VAT Registration Number and proof of registration.

Currency

All prices quoted within the main product pages of Detectors Direct are UK pounds sterling (£). A currency conversion link is provided for guidance only. The exchange rate at the time your order is processed will apply.
