How to decide on a detector?

How deep can detectors go? Different size objects will be detected at different depths in different soil types. We like to talk about the average depth that a coin will be found by a detector in average ground conditions. Lower priced detectors start from 5" (130cm) while a Minelab Explorer will detect a coin in 12-14" of soil (355cm).
Can I avoid digging up junk? Yes! We call this discrimination. It comes with every detector we sell. Lower priced detectors obviously don't discriminate as well as the more expensive machines. Digging is hard work and very boring - do spend as much as you can afford to avoid it!
