Fisher Research Laboratory was founded in 1931 by Dr Gerhard Fisher in his Palo Alto garage. Improving on technology he developed for a direction finder on planes at sea, Dr Fisher and four employees began producing the Metallascope, or M-Scope, the first patented metal detector. Today, Fisher M-Scope is the registered trademark on all Fisher products and a sure sign that you're buying the best metal detectors available. When it's quality, service, performance and reliability you're after, find it... with a Fisher!

CZ-5 Quicksilver
High-Performance, Meter I.D., Three-tone Audio I.D. Metal Detector |
 |
|
 |
 |
The Fisher CZ-5 Quicksilver has it all: Visual target ID meter, three-tone audio target alert, depth reading, pushbutton pinpointing, wet sand operation, deep-target audio boost, built-in speaker and superb 'Quicksilver' performance!
Visual target ID: The CZ-5's easy-to-read meter displays seven small-target categories: iron, foil, two types of pull tabs, and three coin types. When the powerful, dual-frequency, Fourier Domain classification circuitry makes an identification, the needle locks over the appropriate category. No programming, no razzle-dazzle, no nonsense ID.
Three-tone, audio target ID: A low tone means a ferrous or iron target, a medium tone means a pull tab or foil, and a high tone means you've probably found a coin. Plus, a distinctive bell tone alerts you to a big target.
Fourier Domain Signal Analysis: The CZ-5 uses this patented signal analysis system to identify deeper targets in mineralized soil. Two VLF, ground-compensated signals are transmitted, giving the circuitry two signals to analyse, compare and identify.
Pushbutton depth, VCO pinpoint: Just push a button and the volume, pitch and needle rise as you approach your target and peak right over it. The meter gives a depth reading in inches for coin-sized objects. Precision pinpointing couldn't be any easier.
Wet sand operation: Salt water is no problem for the CZ-5. Just flip a switch, re-adjust your ground control, and search that wet sand you never could before.
Audio boost volume control: The lower range of this volume control is like any other you've ever used. But as you increase it above mid range, loud, shallow-target response remains at a fixed volume while faint, deep-target sounds are amplified.
Pushbutton manual ground adjust: With the CZ-5, you get a quick and easy method of ground balancing. Just hold the coil above ground and push the pinpoint button. The lower the coil to the ground and set the ground control just below the audio tone. That's all there is to it. No switches, no "beeps" and no bobbing the coil up and down.
Target separation: It's a sad-but-true fact that most gold rings, pull tabs, foil and cupro-nickel coins fall in the same conductivity range, meaning that a metal detector user has to dig a lot of tabs and foil to find any rings or cupro-nickel coins. But not any more. The CZ-5 not only separates the cupro-nickel coins from the trash but the tabs from the tabs. It has separate ID and discrimination categories for round pull tabs, rectangular pull tabs, foil and some cupro-nickel coins. Rather than a complicated "notch" system, the individual categories are sequentially arranged to ensure maximum good-target recovery.

 |
Extreme depth with even better sensitivity to relics. Plus, improved iron discrimination that will take you to targets nothing else has ever seen. Released to mark 70 years of metal detecting from Fisher Research!
Building on the tradition of performance and quality in Fisher's 1200 series detectors, the 1270 is the pinnacle in a line of superior detectors. It's sensitivity to relics is now better than ever and its the one to beat in target depth. The 1270 also provides you with a toolbox of easy-to-use features that will give you an advantage in every treasure hunting situation - for instance, a high resolution iron discrimination mode that enables you to 'see through' iron trash like never before, a precision ground balance adjustment for difficult soil conditions, and a 'silencer' mode for quiet discrimination. Also, there's a trigger switch for pinpointing and mode changes designed to save you time. After all, you'll need that extra time to recover all your treasure!

1236-X2
It's Silent, It's Sensitive, It's Deep. It's designed to 'sniff out' our small, ancient coins. |
 |
|
 |
 |
Finally, the "quiet one" has arrived. Fisher's new 1236-X2 offers detectorists all the sensitivity they've asked for plus a newly developed silencer mode that helps to eliminate excessive 'pops and clicks', even when searching the most trashy of sites.
Fisher has increased the sensitivity of its new do-it-all detector in response to the needs of today's detector user. They have provided audio threshold at the maximum setting so the faintest target signal can be heard.
Another Fisher first, they've added a third derivative silencer mode that allows you to hunt in the trashiest of areas without the annoying pops and clicks heard in other detectors. Disengaging the Silencer provides a classic second derivative mode of opertaion...a powerful weapon in the detectorist's arsenal of 1236-X2 features.
In the search mode, the 1236-X2 provides VLF Motion Mode Discrimination to automatically ignore ground minerals and trash as it detects valuable targets. Fisher have also included a convenient preset Iron Discrimination setting that rejects common iron objects.
At the push of a button, Zero-Motion Pinpoint kicks in with a VCO audio response for precise target location. The tone gets louder and higher so there's no doubt when you're directly over a target.
You can vary the transmit frequency of the 1236-X2 from 5.5 KHz to 5.9 KHz to eliminate electrical interference from nearby metal detectors... a must for the competition and rally hunter.
For an extra measure of versatility, Fisher have included a volume control to adjust audio levels to suit your needs.
